The S.S. United States, built in 1950 for the United States Lines provided transatlantic service from 1952 to 1969. She earned the Blue Riband in 1952 for the fastest ocean liner to cross the Atlantic.
Commodore John W. Anderson U.S.N.R was the longest serving Captain of the United States, having served for 12 years from 1952 to 1964.
